Karl-F Degenhardt

Karl-F. Degenhardt was born 1991 in Eisenach and already at the early age of three he felt connected to music and especially the drums, which he eventually expressed on drumsets, self-made from pots and buckets.

When he got professional drum lessons at the age of 12 it took short time until he played with various bands and performed professional CD productions.

Being generally interested in arts of any kind - and his father being a professional musician - he quickly realised that music and drumming is much more than just a hobby. His enthusiasm was beside concerts amply rewarded: In 2009 he received the arts prize of „Dr. Wolfgang-Zippel-Stiftung“ with his trio „Blue Break“ - the art award of the city of Kassel - as well as the highly remunerated German- Czech „Jazzprix“ one year later.

In 2011 Karl-F. Degenhardt began studying at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, Germany. In the time that followed, he was quickly discovered by legends of Jazz and improvised music: he played with Roscoe Mitchell, Gunter Hampel, Gerd Dudek, Markus Lüpertz und TTT, Ryan Carniaux, Matthias Schriefl, Reinier Baas etc., in 2015 received the advancement award of Saarbrücken conservatory for music and the 3rd. prize of Sparda Jazz Award 2015 with „Marie Mokati“. He played many concerts in and outside of Germany with bands as well as solo (Goethe-Institute in various cities, Qatar Jazz festival, Bohemia Jazz festival, „Jazz an der Donau“ etc.), recorded numerous label- released CDs and radio broadcasts.

He had lessons with Agusti Fernandez, Barry Guy, Ramon Lopez, John Hollenbeck, Andreas Lang, Mads LaCour etc.

In 2013 and 2014 he was invited to teach at the international „Blue Boat“ workshop for Jazz and improvised music. Recently he was portrayed on German major radio „WDR“.
