Griffin Wade has music in his genes. Hailing from a family of professional performers and arts educators, his earliest exposure to performance was through his mother who is a veteran public school Drama teacher.

Griffin literally grew up on stage and it was here that his mother first instilled in him a love for music and performance which continues to propel his career. From as far back as he can remember, his father shared with him stories from his own career as a musician, leaving home at 19, to tour with Waylon Jennings and other prominent Nashville Recording Artist who defined the era. These stories from his father left a huge impression and inspired him to pursue music on a professional level. Griffin began taking private drum lessons at the age of 8 before attending Durham School of the Arts where he performed in music ensembles representing a wide variety of genres. However, it was a regular Sunday church gig that helped him realize his love of gospel music and serves as the glue that defines his hard-hitting, yet soulful sound. Over 13 years, Griffin has shared the stage with many national performing artists including Charlie Daniels, The Indigo Girls, Branford Marsalis, Biz Markie, 9th Wonder, Scott Avett, Girl Talk, Killer Mike, and others. He has been featured on MTVU, ESPN,PBS, and NPR and has performed at some of America’s most prestigious venues, arenas, and festivals including South By Southwest Music Festival, Hopscotch Music Festival and Shakori Hills Grass Roots Festival. Currently, Griffin works for a national artist management and entertainment company and continues to teach, perform, and tour full-time with various musical artists, including critically acclaimed musician/poet, shirlette ammons.
